The Marian thistle, scientific name Silybum marianum, is a medicinal plant also known as thistle-de-maria, thistle-thistle, thistle, thistle and other denominations. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, this plant is native to Europe and Asia, but was naturalized in North and South America.
