The second most common type of 3D printing filament in use, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is a stronger and more durable material than PLA. Printing with ABS plastic generally requires a heated build platform or chamber to prevent warping and an extruder capable of printing at temperatures up to ~ 240°C.

Our filament manufacturer has been in the plastics industry for over 25 years. They are one of the leading suppliers of 3D printer filament and have been making filament since 2012. This filament is proudly made in the U.S.A.

Note:  ABS creates mild, tolerable fumes while being extruded. These fumes, while usually tolerable, may be dangerous for people (or pet birds) with chemical sensitivities or breathing difficulties. Make sure that your printer is in a well-ventilated area and make sure to avoid breathing the fumes.

A heated build platform or build chamber is highly recommended for printing with ABS filament. While some users have printed ABS plastic without a heated platform/chamber most users find that shrinkage and curling during the print will cause failures if one is not used. If you are unsure if your printer can utilize ABS filament please research before ordering.

1 Kg (2.2 lb.) spool

 ABS
Recommended Extrusion Temperature: 210°C - 240°C
Recommended Nozzle size: Any Size

Recommended Retraction Settings:

.5mm per 0.1mm of nozzle diameter

(ie. 2.5mm retraction when using a 0.5mm diameter nozzle)

Recommended Print Surface:

Hot - Glass heated to 100-110°C with a coat of glue, PET or KAPTON tape, hairspray, or an ABS slurry.

Print Cooling fan?

Print Cooling fans at not generally recommended with ABS filament as too much cooling can cause adhesion issues between each printed layer. However, when printing very small areas with very little time between layers a cooling fan set to turn on at a low speed can sometimes improve quality.
